Algaemical Carbon was born from the vision of its founder, Jordi Vernet Bescós, a chemical and industrial engineer with more than a decade of experience in leading multinationals. During his 11 years in companies such as Procter & Gamble and Bershka (Inditex), Jordi developed a deep understanding of the sustainability challenges in the industry.
At Procter & Gamble, he specialised in continuous improvement and process engineering, developing crucial skills in industrial process optimisation. Later, at Bershka, he led the CSR-Product Safety, Sustainability and Labelling departments, creating and leading teams focused on implementing environmental and quality standards.
In 2021, driven by the need to generate a more significant impact in the fight against climate change, Jordi made a transformative decision: to redirect his professional career towards a project that combined his passion for sustainability with his experience in industrial processes.
This professional turnaround led him to simultaneously pursue a master's degree in Food Technology and Safety and an executive master's degree in Operations Management. It was during this period of immersion in new knowledge that Algaemical Carbon was born in mid-2022.
The project represents the perfect confluence of his industrial experience, his commitment to sustainability and his vision of a future where industrial decarbonisation is not only possible, but also profitable. Since then, Jordi has led the development of Algaemical Carbon, training in startup building and specific technologies, and building a multidisciplinary team of experts committed to transforming industry towards a more sustainable model.
Today, Algaemical Carbon has become a promising reality that is capturing the attention of the industrial sector and has been recognised as one of the top 50 startups in Catalonia in 2024 by ACCIÓN, as well as obtaining the second position in the NEEC competition (November 2024).
